Technical Recruitment Process at Order Group

For many, the interview process can be pretty stressful. There are many factors. Fear of rejection, the possibility of making a silly mistake, an awkward first impression, and more, are just some examples of things that could go wrong. In reality, you’re harsher to yourself than anybody else. There is a saying, “we are our own harshest critic," which is completely true, too. We are here to brighten your day a bit. We will walk you through our recruitment process, give you an idea of who you might speak with, and address all your concerns about the typical HR choreography (we also dislike the current state of recruitment).

Intro

For many, the interview process can be pretty stressful. There are many factors. Fear of rejection, the possibility of making a silly mistake, an awkward first impression, and more, are just some examples of things that could go wrong. In reality, you’re harsher to yourself than anybody else. There is a saying, “we are our own harshest critic," which is completely true, too.

We are here to brighten your day a bit. We will walk you through our recruitment process, give you an idea of who you might speak with, and address all your concerns about the typical HR choreography (we also dislike the current state of recruitment).

Our Process

Let’s get to the details. Our process is one of the more straightforward ones, and even though we don’t have a universal recruitment process template, we have a standard we follow most of the time. Furthermore, we don’t think that the current practice of having four or even five stages works for us, so we limit the calls/meetings to a maximum of three (including the initial phone call). Here is how we do it:

  1. Phone call: we first check whether there’s a match between us; whether we’re what you’re looking for in terms of pay, company size, tech, etc, and whether you’re what we’re looking for as far as knowledge, experience, etc..
  2. Meeting 1: We then move to our first video call or the first in-person meeting. We again see if there’s a match between us, as it’s really important there is. We then ask you what’s important for you, and we brief you on what’s important to us, our values, and more. We also want to get to know a bit more about your experience, and we will quickly talk about the tech a bit more.
  3. Meeting 2: This is the last stage. It’s the call with either Michał Dżaman or Łukasz Gajownik, where we would like to see how well you’re doing within the world of your chosen tech. We also want to see how well your analytical thinking is, and we give you a task to complete. Don’t worry, it’s not a live coding task (we don’t make you code on a whiteboard, or we do not make you invert a binary tree either).

In general, our process is designed to get to know you while keeping stressful situations to a minimum. There’s no dress code, although you might want to still dress up business casual. We also don’t ask you about your favorite animal, what you want to do in 5 years, or any combination of the above. We aren’t a recruitment agency, so there’s nothing to be afraid of.

Who Will Interview You?

There are four people you might see.

  1. Joanna Osuch
  2. Zuzanna Mazurkiewicz
  3. Michał Dżaman
  4. Łukasz Gajownik

We Want You To Succeed: 5 Tips to Nail Your Interview with Us

Landing an interview is a great first step, but how do you make sure you stand out from the rest? We're here to help! Here are 5 key tips to ensure your interview is a success:

1. Be the Best Version of Yourself

We want to get to know the real you! Authenticity goes a long way. While confidence is important (see tip #5), an interview is a two-way street. Be yourself, showcase your personality, and let your enthusiasm for the opportunity shine through.

2. Deep Dive into Our World:

Showing you've done your research demonstrates genuine interest. Take some time to explore our company website, social media channels, and even relevant news articles. Understanding what we do and what we're passionate about allows you to tailor your responses and show how you can contribute.

3. Honesty is Always the Best Policy

We value integrity, and that starts with honesty. Be truthful about your skills and experience. If there's something you're not sure about, it's okay to say so. We'd much rather hear your honest answer than something fabricated.

4. Be Prepared, Not Robotic

While preparation is key, remember that interviews are conversations, not recitations. We can usually spot AI-generated responses a mile away. Focus on understanding the questions and crafting genuine answers that showcase your unique skills and thought processes.

5. Confidence is King (or Queen), But Keep It Real

Confidence is key, but there's a fine line between confidence and overconfidence. Strike a balance. Be enthusiastic about your abilities, but be humble enough to acknowledge that there's always room to learn and grow.

By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to having a successful interview and making a lasting impression.

Summary/Conclusion

The interview process isn’t meant to test your resistance to stress, nor is it meant to break you. Really. While it does seem daunting for many, in reality, there isn’t anything to be afraid of as long as you follow the tips we gave you.

If you are reading this ahead of an interview with us, then we wish you the best, and want to reiterate that we want to see you succeed. Good luck!
