Take advantage of working in the office: here is the reason why it is worth working stationary

Since the coronavirus pandemic started, many people have suffered from anxiety and loneliness as they have not seen anyone for a really long time. Most of them regretted one thing - they missed meeting other people. You also, but now you have an opportunity to work in the office again, but you wonder if it makes sense. We think it does - even if it is temporary - and we will tell you why.

During the pandemic, it became a standard to work remotely from home. All the restrictions implemented by the government and social distancing made us, in fact, recluses: we lost connection with our friends, coworkers, and even family. To protect ourselves from getting infected, we avoided face-to-face contact with other people and stopped going to our offices and workplaces. Now we have the opportunity to work from the office again, but many people wonder if it makes sense. We think it does - even if it is temporary - and we will tell you why.

Fine feathers make fine birds

Since the coronavirus pandemic started, it has been a tough time for us - many people suffered from anxiety and loneliness as they have not seen anyone for a really long time. Most of them regretted one thing - they missed meeting other people, going to the restaurant or a bar, or, what is more interesting, going to the office. We all had a deficit of direct contact with people we could only see on our screens. During quarantine, people tried to keep in touch via communicators and video calls. But virtual contact certainly is not the same as seeing someone live, watch someone's reactions, gestures, and body language. Being in the same room with other people allows seeing it all with our own eyes, understand the context, and react directly to what is going on at the moment. It is also easier to communicate and avoid misunderstandings.

That is why it is essential to have direct contact with your colleagues, primarily if you work together daily. Even occasional video calls are not the same as short talks during a coffee break or joint lunch. You cannot establish a relationship and get to know a person from a distance only by seeing someone on your screen - it will never be the same as building bonds every day and seeing each other in person. You cannot share the emotions online – when something is going on, you have to live that moment, been through it. You build relationships with others by spending time together and sharing memories.

Stay motivated and get inspired

You are also better recognized when you are present in the same room with people you work with daily. They can see your engagement and how hard you work. It is also easier to stay motivated when everyone in the room is working - you can stay focus and determined as the work atmosphere is all around you. It is also an excellent way to get inspired. Sometimes people and situations can be an inspiration. Also, whenever you need advice, consultation, or brainstorming session, it is easy to do it with your team at the place. It is also easier to ask about something and get the answer immediately, without the necessity of scheduling meetings, calls, etc.

Keep work–life balance

Let's focus now on how we work from home. Usually, there is no separation between private and professional life. Many people work sitting on their beds in pajamas, as there is no need to go out and other people will not see them. Meanwhile, it is relevant to have a place dedicated only to work, with a suitable desk and adjustable chair. What is even more important is not to mix personal and professional areas. When you end your work, you should close your computer, turn off your phone, and switch to relax mode. We all need time to rest mentally and stop thinking about new tasks to do, e-mails to send, and deadlines. Without that clear division, it seems like you are at work all the time, 24 hours a day, and do not have a moment to regenerate or focus on yourself.
It is always easier to end your work when you are in the office and everyone else is also leaving than to do the same when you are at home, and in practice, you are always online and accessible. It may negatively influence your mental health - you have to dissociate from your job duties, leave it in the office and come back the following day with a clear head.

How we do it in Order Group

In OG we know, how important it is to feel integrated and stay connected with our colleagues. That is why we do our best to cultivate our tearful ties: we try to work stationery as often as possible to meet in the office and have some time to chat. Twice a week, we do sport together (running sessions and volleyball matches), once a week we meet at our 'family dinners,' and once a month, we have an informal meeting during which we catch up on socializing. Why do we do it? And isn't it essential to feel that you are a part of your team and to like your team members? You spend most of our time together every day, so it is more pleasant to have good relations and rely on each other in any situation, don't you agree? :)
